& conceptual approach

Ariane Ernst is a German jewelry designer. In a two-year training course, she trained as a goldsmith at the Vienna Gold and Silversmithacademy. Afterwards, Ariane studied “applied art & design” at the FH Düsseldorf (today HSD) in the Bachelor and Master’s. She has gained her work experience in Vienna with a long-established goldsmith and Stuart Moore in New York as well as in the field of fashion jewellery at the Swedish fashion label H&M in the Head Office Stockholm. These different currents of her education are reflected both in her understanding of jewellery and in the jewellery she designed. Ariane’s jewelry is also inspired by current fashion trends and art styles such as minimalism and deconstructivism.

Their jewellery is usually conceptually constructed. It pays particular attention to the proportionality and connecting lines of the individual links. Classic jewelry forms collide with the current trends of fashion, so she incorporates colours, fashionable appearances and her classic training into the creations.

The designer does not feel subject to any style – she stands between the clean lines of the jewellery world and works under the title “inbetween” and “zeitgeist baby”. With her current line, she wants to differentiate herself from the idea that jewelry is just a status symbol or accessory. Rather than simply ensning gemstones in metal, jewellery is for them an expression of character and personality. She emphasizes this in particular by integrating current innovations, e.g. 3D printing technology, into her work processes. After completing her 9-year training, she launched her own label “arianeernst” in July 2013.
